About this policy
This policy describes the Beacon Android app and its website. Beacon helps riders discover drivers and contact them directly. For privacy questions, contact support@bcnx.tech, the contact address supplied for this website.
Information used by the app
- Account and profile: Google sign-in information, account identifiers, name, email, and profile photo, including changes you make to your profile.
- Driver applications: contact number, operating city, vehicle details and registration plate, driving licence information, uploaded documents and vehicle photos, services, and application review status.
- Location: device location with your permission for nearby discovery. When a driver goes online, the app shares location updates through a foreground location service; this can continue while the app is not on screen.
- Activity: favorites, submitted reports and support information, moderation records, and any existing trip-history records associated with your account.
- Notifications: device notification tokens used to deliver application and moderation updates.
Why this information is used
Information supports sign-in, account management, driver discovery, listing review, location sharing, favorites, notifications, reporting, and service operation. Driver documents support application review; submitting them does not mean a driver has passed a comprehensive background check.
What other users can see
Driver listings can display the driver's name and photo, vehicle details and registration plate, city, services and notes, availability, and shared location. Contact actions make the driver's contact number available for calls or WhatsApp. Only submit public listing information you are comfortable sharing with riders.
Application documents and report details are used for review rather than as public listing content. Authorized administrators need access to relevant information to perform these reviews.
Service providers and direct contact
Beacon uses Supabase for authentication, database storage, uploaded files, and realtime updates; Google services for sign-in and maps; and Firebase Cloud Messaging for notifications. These providers process information needed to deliver their services. Their processing can involve infrastructure outside your country.
Opening WhatsApp or the phone dialer takes you to a separate service. Information you send there—including messages, shared locations, and payment details—is subject to that service's policies and the recipient's actions. Starting a conversation does not create a Beacon booking.
Permissions and your choices
You can manage location, camera, and notification permissions in Android settings. Camera and selected images support photo uploads. Going offline stops the driver's active location-sharing session; revoking location permission may prevent location-based features. Sign-out or uninstalling the app is not an account-deletion request.
Website data
This website does not include advertising trackers, analytics scripts, signup forms, or nonessential cookies. Fonts and images are served locally. Your hosting provider may process ordinary request information, such as IP addresses and browser details, to deliver and secure the website. Email links open your email app and do not submit a request automatically.
Your rights under the GDPR
Where the EU General Data Protection Regulation applies to Beacon’s processing of your personal data, you have the rights below, subject to the conditions and exceptions in that law. These rights are not a claim that Beacon’s operational compliance has been audited.
- Access and correction: ask whether your personal data is processed, obtain a copy, and correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Erasure and restriction: request deletion or ask that use of your information be limited where the relevant conditions apply.
- Portability: receive data you provided in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format when processing is automated and based on consent or a contract.
- Objection: object to processing based on legitimate interests on grounds relating to your situation. You can object to direct marketing at any time.
- Withdrawal of consent: withdraw consent where it is the basis for processing, without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal. Device permissions can be changed in Android settings; a permission prompt alone does not establish GDPR consent.
- Automated decisions: protections apply to solely automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects, subject to statutory exceptions and safeguards. You can ask whether such processing applies to your account.
Making a privacy request
Email support@bcnx.tech with the subject “Beacon privacy rights request”, the right you want to exercise, and enough information to identify your account. Do not include passwords or sign-in codes. Reasonable identity verification may be needed before account information is disclosed or changed. See also account deletion.
Under the EU GDPR, controllers must respond without undue delay and normally within one month of receipt. For complex or numerous requests, an extension of up to two further months may be permitted, with notice and reasons within the first month. Requests are generally free; a reasonable fee or refusal is permitted only in the circumstances allowed by law, such as manifestly unfounded or excessive requests. These are legal requirements, not a verified service guarantee for this inbox.
Complaints
You may lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, particularly in the EU country where you habitually live, work, or where an alleged infringement occurred. You do not need to contact Beacon first. Find your authority through the European Data Protection Board’s member directory.
Controller, legal bases, and transfers
The legal name and address of Beacon’s data controller, any required EU representative, and any applicable data-protection officer contact have not yet been supplied for this notice. The contact address above is not a substitute for those details.
The controller must establish and disclose a lawful basis for each processing purpose—for example, processing objectively necessary to provide a requested service under a contract, valid consent for optional processing, a documented legitimate interest subject to a balancing assessment, or an identified legal obligation. Beacon’s purpose-by-purpose legal bases and assessments have not been confirmed; this page does not assert that all processing falls under one basis.
Where personal data is transferred outside the EEA, an applicable lawful transfer mechanism is required, such as an adequacy decision or appropriate safeguards. Actual hosting locations, provider agreements, transfer mechanisms, and how to obtain applicable safeguards have not been verified for Beacon. No particular provider location or transfer certification is claimed here.
For further information about your rights, see the European Commission’s guidance for individuals.
Retention and deletion
The exact retention schedule for accounts, documents, location updates, moderation records, and backups has not yet been confirmed. This does not limit any response deadline required by applicable law. Contact support to ask about stored information or request deletion; see Account and data deletion.
Copies of information you have shared with drivers or external services, including WhatsApp messages, are outside Beacon's direct control.
Security and updates
Beacon uses authenticated access and access controls for app data. No system can guarantee complete security. This page will be updated as service details and practices change; material changes will be reflected in the date above.
